Sioned Jones - Biography

 

Sioned Studied drama at Exeter University where she distinguished herself by winning the Commendation from the Dean (only one commendation awarded across the faculty each year) and trained at the Webber Douglas Academy of Dramatic Art.

Theatre:

Sioned made her professional stage debut as the Giraffe in The Giraffe, the Pelly and Me (Birmingham Old Rep). Since then Sioned has appeared in a variety of shorter necked roles including a fantasy gypsy in Tolstoy (tour & Aldwych), Lila Brik in Monumental for GridIron (Glasgow Citizens'), People Show 104, Maria in Twelfth Night directed by Roy Marsden (Palace Theatre, Westcliff-on-Sea & Cambridge Arts), Madeline the lesbian in The Wild Party, (Le Chusia, European Premiere), Kathe in The Windmill, Anne Graham in The Cheeky Chappie, Big Voice Cabaret, Fastrada in Pippin, Sheila in Have a Nice Life! and Pub (all at the Union Theatre Southwark). Sioned understudied Maureen Lipman in Glorious!, (tour & Duchess), sang Ingrid in Conor Mitchell's Anthology (St Paul's), played Mme Dorbeval in Golden Opportunies (Croydon Warehouse) her first involvement with Jane Nightwork Productions, The Letter (tour & Wyndhams), and Shadowlands (tour, Wyndham's and Novello).

Film and Television: Sioned played Generys opposite Sir Derek Jacobi in The Potter's Field – Cadfael and has also played parts in The Bill, Family Affairs, Happy Now? (as Emmy Rossum's mum) and Flamenco Fever.

Other Work: Sioned directed Lie Back In Anger and Basket a comedy sketch show in London and Edinburgh, and has co-written a musical, Ovid's Transformations which was shown at the Waterfront in Belfast and has had two subseqent performances. Sioned also wrote The Juror which was performed at the Union Theatre. Sioned is an Artistic Associate of Jane Nightwork Productions and is also an oil painter and has exhibited in joint and solo shows in London.
